Accounting & Controllership Services Director - Nonprofit Industry Focus
"I enjoy helping mission-driven organizations make sense of complex financial information and use it to shape strategy, support tactical decision-making, and plan for future growth. I especially enjoy working through complicated funding, grant, or accounting issues, identifying a practical path forward, and helping clients connect the numbers to the bigger picture so they can make confident decisions and move their organizations forward." - Anita Bushnyakova

Based in Tallahassee, Anita leads outsourced accounting, controllership, and CFO advisory work for the firm’s nonprofit clients. Her focus is on Head Start and Community Action Agencies, federally funded organizations, and the broader nonprofit sector. She serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and boards, guiding them on financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, grant and regulatory compliance, internal controls, and organizational growth. Anita helps nonprofit leaders connect the numbers to the bigger picture so they can make confident decisions. She also supports client relationship development and team leadership, and she’s helping grow the firm’s nonprofit-focused Accounting & Controllership Services practice.
At James Moore, Anita works alongside the firm’s nonprofit team to help clients create a lasting impact. Prior to joining the firm, she spent more than a decade in nonprofit financial leadership, most recently as chief financial officer of Kids Incorporated of the Big Bend, a Head Start and Early Head Start grantee. She has hands-on experience managing federal, state, and local government funding, along with federal match requirements, endowments, and contributions. That background gives her a client-side perspective and helps her develop solutions that are both technically sound and workable in practice.
