Size and Complexity: Tailor your board structure to fit your nonprofit’s size. Larger organizations may need intricate structures and specialized committees, while smaller ones can keep it simple. Clearly define roles and responsibilities for all board members.

Geographical Range: For nonprofits serving wide areas, a multi-tiered board structure can be beneficial. Regional boards coordinate with a central board to ensure cohesive operation.

Fundraising Needs: Incorporate fundraising duties into board members’ roles. Establish a committee dedicated to fundraising and grant acquisition to support growth and sustainability.
