HCA Florida Healthcare Reaches Construction Milestone For Downtown Orlando Emergency Facility

HCA Florida Healthcare recently held a topping out ceremony for its new freestanding emergency department in downtown Orlando. The ceremony marked the completion of the structure’s highest point at the 11,260-square-foot facility.

Construction Progress At College Park Location

HCA Florida Osceola Hospital leaders joined the construction team to commemorate the milestone. David Shimp, chief executive officer of HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, said the ceremony provided an opportunity to sign a beam that becomes a permanent part of the structure. He noted that this tradition in the construction industry acknowledges and thanks all who have contributed to the project.

The $21 million emergency room is located at 719 Peachtree Road in Orlando, facing Colonial Drive. The facility serves downtown Orlando and the College Park community.

Planned Services And Staffing

According to Shimp, 175,000 patients living within a five-minute drive of this location visit local emergency rooms each year. The new facility aims to provide easier access to emergency care for people who live, work and visit the area.

HCA Florida Downtown Emergency is scheduled to provide full-service emergency care 24 hours a day and seven days a week when it opens in spring 2026. The facility plans to staff board-certified emergency medicine physicians alongside nurses and healthcare professionals providing specialized emergency care for patients of all ages, including children.

The planned facility includes 11 private patient care rooms and a trauma/cardiopulmonary resuscitation room. Diagnostic services include CT scan, digital X-ray, ultrasound services and on-site laboratory services.
