Corporate Recruiter

Are you motivated by partnering with firm leadership to build a talented team? Are you passionate about recruiting? James Moore & Co., P.L. is a growing, forward thinking public accounting firm searching for a Corporate Recruiter to primarily support the firm’s recruiting efforts and secondarily support human resources administration and internal activities. 

The Corporate Recruiter will proactively recruit for all positions in the firm including experienced professionals and college students. Additional responsibilities include creating and sustaining relationships with universities and recruiting sources, developing recruiting strategies, promoting the firm at job fairs, on college campuses and within surrounding communities, and providing support for day-to-day activities of the human resources department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In accordance with the Firm’s Strategic Recruitment Plan, develops and coordinates recruitment strategies and policies to achieve required staffing levels. Working iwth Firm Partners and Managers to recruit, interview and recommend qualified applicants who can best contribute to the success and growth of the Firm. Meets with Partners and Managers to develop specific recruitment targets.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with university placement offices, accounting/finance instructors and other individuals and organizations that will enhance the talent pipeline flow to the Firm.
  • Coordinates Firm participation in university job fairs and other recruitment events.
  • Coordinates recruitment and placement of interns.
  • Directs the efforts of employment agencies and search firms, including assistant with negotiating and controlling employment related fees.
  • Provides background information on the Firm and describes job opportunities to potential applicants. Screens and refers applicants, schedules interviews and provides follow-up and ongoing communication to potential hires.
  • Conducts reference and background checks.
  • Creates recruiting promotional materials, placement ads and other written collateral material that promotes employment opportunities with the Firm.
  • Conducts training programs designed to improve recruitment and hiring inefficiencies.
  • Researches, analyzes, prepares and presents periodic reports and updates under the Strategic recruitment Plan. Researches and reports on industry trends relative to hiring strategies, compensation and benefits. Provides periodic management reports on recruiting, new hires and terminations.
  • Assists the Firm HR Manager to ensure Firm compliance with all federal, state and local laws related to recruitment and applicants for hire. Remains current with changes in federal and state employment law. 
  • Writes and maintains job descriptions for each position.
  • Manages the Firm’s employee referral program. Coordinates employee participation in networking opportunities that promote the Firm as an employer of choice. Periodic travel is required to attend meetings as well as job fairs, university recruiting function, and other events.
  • Assist Firm HR Manager with new hire orientation to ensure employees understand Firm values, protocol and processes.
  • Maintains recruitment database and files in accordance with the Firm’s document retention policy, as well as federal and state regulations governing applications and applicant tracking.
  • Participates in professional organizations related to recruiting and/or the accounting profession (such as AGN).
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned by the Managing Partner of the Firm ad the Firm HR Manager.

Desired Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate must be a dedicated, results-oriented individual with a bachelor’s degree in human resources, public relations or related field and 2-4 years of relevant human resources/recruiting experience.

Tax Manager

The Tax Manager is responsible for planning and managing all phases of client projects under the direction of, and in consultation with, Senior Managers and Partners, in an effort to ensure that quality service is provided in a timely, responsive and efficient manner. The Tax Manager will perform advanced level services for clients, as well as for areas within the Firm, while demonstrating a high level of professionalism and enhancing the Firm’s image. This role is responsible for supervising, reviewing, training and evaluating employees at the intern, staff and senior levels. Additionally, the Tax Manager will research complex technical questions and play a significant role in the business Development of the Firm. 

Desired Skills and Experience

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related discipline plus as well as 5-7 years of comprehensive tax experience in a public accounting firm. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.  The ideal candidate will be a team player who has a desire to expand their accounting knowledge.

Staff Accountant

This position is responsible for performing basic accounting processes on a variety of engagements, including: audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements for a variety of industries. Also responsible for preparing federal, state, county and local income tax returns for both businesses and individuals, under supervision of more experienced personnel. The successful candidate must be reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

The Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Record transactions; prepare trial balances and simple financial statements
- Prepare tax returns and work papers accurately and efficiently
- Perform audit or review procedures as assigned by supervisors
- Display general understanding and knowledge of applicable tax laws and rules
- Exhibit familiarity with the pronouncements of the FASB, AICPA and GASB
- Understand basic rules, regulations and code of ethics of the AICPA
- Comprehend pertinent IRC sections and regulations
- Meet chargeable hour goals
- Accurate time and record keeping
- Demonstrate basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting processes
- Progress professionally by working toward passing the CPA exam

Full-Charge Bookkeeper

This position is responsible for completing client recordkeeping responsibilities, to include manual bank reconciliation, as well as correcting errors to include adjusting journal entries and month-end close documents. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the natural flow of account balances, financial statements, balance sheet and statement of income/loss, as well as knowledge of the principles of asset capitalization and depreciation and the accounting differences specific to different legal entities.

The Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
- Generation of timely and accurate monthly financial statements
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll transactions to include monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting
- Assist tax and audit departments with compiling supporting documentation for financial statements
- Provide internal and external software consulting for database set-up, troubleshooting, and client training
- Respond to and resolve client bookkeeping and payroll questions and/or concerns
- Prepare sales tax and payroll tax returns
- Input extensive amount of data
- Ability to differentiate between cash, accrual, and other basis of accounting
-  Ability to promote teamwork and a cooperative work environment
- Ability to maintain client relationships with a dedication to outstanding client service

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum three years experience as a full-charge bookkeeper or comparable experience in accounting processes with a strong knowledge of accounting software
Experience performing office and bookkeeping duties accurately and efficiently without supervision
Experience explaining accounting concepts and transactions to non-accountants
Proficient in the operation of office equipment and multiple computer programs
Effective time management skills and ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
Excellent written/oral communication and math skills; must exercise extreme attention to detail with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Advanced proficiency with Word and Excel programs
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation highly desired
